Hughes-Peters announces acqustion of Hammond Electronics

Hughes-Peters is pleased to announce the acquisition of Hammond Electronics, a seventy year old electronic components distributor based in Orlando, Florida.

With this purchase Hughes-Peters expands into the Southeast market, adding locations in North Carolina, Georgia and Florida.  Like Hughes-Peters, Hammond is an IP&E distributor with strong value added capabilities.  Both companies also have a philosophy of partnering with customers by pipelining inventory to support their production needs.

This acquisition is the third by Hughes-Peters since current ownership purchased the company in 1999.  This will increase their number of branch locations to 10.  The company’s focus will continue to be on the customer, broad line card, and their employees.  Mike Okel, President of Hughes-Peters stated, “We could not find a better match for HP.  Our business model, line card and people are very similar.”  Combining the two companies will make Hughes-Peters one of the top 15 distributors in North America.

Current President of Hammond, John Hammond, is looking forward to retirement, but will remain during the finalization of the merger.  More information will be released as events warrant.
